“My insecurities about myself can be so damaging that it affects how I perform, or how much I enjoy a job. No matter what I achieve, my brain can somehow trick me into believing that I don’t know what I’m doing, which kind of sucks. I’m still working through that, it’s a daily practice, and maybe I’d give up if I didn’t love all of this so damn much. Thankfully, I’m getting to a stage where I’ve realized I don’t have time for those negative thoughts, because that’s all they are, so I have to let them in, and let them pass through as quickly as they came.”

I need to educate myself on LGBTQ issues I probably don’t even know exist. I can preach about how wonderful my time has been since coming out, which it has, but everyone’s situation is different. The best thing I can do is learn and hear people’s stories, that’s what I’m focusing on right now & that’s what I think will help me help others. – Keiynan Lonsdale for Kode Magazine, 2017
